Andrew is a Senior Engineer who has a wealth of experience within the upstream Oil & Gas technology sector. Why did you choose to The Engineers CV?
When researching professional CV writing companies, I found that many where generalists and have little or no engineering experience. The Engineers CV are engineering specialists who knew the most about my skillset and industry sector. The consultant's industry knowledge gave me the confidence that they would be able to deliver a professional CV that would help me secure my next job.
What where the major challenges you faced in your job search?
I was employed with the same company for over 15-years, having progressed from an apprentice through to a senior management position. This presented a number of challenges for me.
Firstly, I was not experienced as a jobseeker which meant that I wasn't entirely sure on what other companies within my industry where actually looking for. Secondly, the skills and experience I had accumulated where diverse and complex. This meant I had to realise which of these skills and experiences where relevant and how to present these to my advantage.
How did The Engineers CV help you move forward?
The consultant I dealt with really took the time to understand my skills and strengths, and some of his questions also helped me to realise and communicate what I can offer to future employers.
Because the consultant was an engineering specialist, he was able to help me understand what potential employers within my industry were looking for. This allowed him to focus on the skills and experience which are relevant as well as communicate them in a way which was attractive and marketable to companies.
How has the service impacted on your job search?
The results were quickly noticeable. I was getting more interest from recruitment agencies and employers, as well as securing a good number of interviews.
